overruled

Overruled was developed through the use of digital fabrication. First, the properties of ruled surfaces, which are curvilinear forms created by manipulating the path of straight lines, were explored through the use of a foam cutting machine. Negative spaces were filled with plaster to create solid objects. This relationship between solid and void was further analyzed through the use of 3D printing. Through cutting the curvilinear forms, a variety of surfaces and shapes was created to accommodate an art gallery within the building. Finally, CNC milling was used to analyze the slope and contours of the site.
